RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults)
This program assists those considering membership in the Catholic Church to
gain an understanding of Catholic belief and practice as they prepare
to enter the Church. Inquirers are accompanied by Catholic students
who serve as sponsors. Impact: an average of 55 students have participated
in the last three years, of whom approximately 25 joined the Church
each year.
Confirmation Preparation
If you have basic religious education in the Catholic faith, and have
been baptized and made your First Communion, but have not been confirmed,
this is an opportunity for you to prepare for this sacrament. Call Fr.
John (785-843-0357) for information. A class time is arranged each year.
Marriage Preparation
The Marriage Preparation Team at St. Lawrence helps many engaged couples
get off on the right foot in building a marriage that will last a lifetime.
The couples attend classes that help them to foster mutual respect with
each other, grow in their relationship with God, and discover God's
plan for a joy-filled marriage. The classes cover such topics as the
vocation, sacrament, social responsibilities, and spirituality of marriage,
as well as the "Theology of the Body" and Natural Family Planning.
Couples will meet with a priest to plan the liturgy of the wedding ceremony,
and they will also meet privately with a veteran married couple to discuss
such topics as finances, communication, and growth in marriage. If you
are planning on getting married contact a priest at St. Lawrence six
to nine months in advance of your desired wedding date.
